A reputed Yarn Manufacturing Company suffers huge losses due to Remote Access Trojan (RAT)
Company A (Yarn Manufacturing Company) was shipping the final products to Company B (Client of Company A).
Company A received an e-mail communication from Company B to send the entire shipment to Italy at the given address which should reach by the given date.
While the shipment was on its way to Italy, Company A receives another e-mail communication from Company B that the destination address has been changed from Italy to Greece.
When the shipment reached Greece Company A was asked to send the shipment again to Italy. As the consignment was getting delayed, Company A receives a call from Company B to raise their concern.
Company B said that they did not send any mail and since the shipment got delayed so they cancelled their entire order.
ANA Cyber Forensic investigated the systems and their network and our team found that someone snooped into their communication media and was able to see Company A’s entire activity through a Remote Access Trojan (RAT).
We suggested the Company that the electronic communication media available on public network should be secured and filters should be implemented for e-mail gateways. We provided data security policies and implemented UTM for monitoring of incoming and outgoing data to prevent such incidents from happening in future.
